The City of the World may take effect
On Armenia’s Independence Day, the Armenian tricolor was elevated at Shanghai Expo – 2010 which is attended by Armenia in addition to 192 other nations of the world.
Wu Wan Hing, the two millionth visitor of the Armenian pavilion, was presented with a certificate and a valuable gift. Some twenty thousand people come to see the pavilion daily. Two million out of a total of 53 million visitors have already called at the stand of Armenia. This is an evidence of success and serious interest for our country.
THE VISION OF THE NEW CITY OF THE WORLD
Extending a vote of thanks to Chinese authorities in his remarks dedicated to Armenia’s National Day, the Prime Minister stated in part: “Day after day our country wakes up and eyes the biblical Mount Ararat which first of all symbolizes our people’s revival.
Today - in the wake of the global crisis - it seems to be obvious that the modern world can no longer be the way it used to be before the crisis: it has to change. Many people around the world are trying to formulate the new orientation of the world.
We deeply believe that the new world should be built through joint efforts. This is why we are putting forth the idea of the new town which in addition to our vision should incorporate a concept of the dialog of civilizations. At the same time, we enable all humans and peoples to take a share in the building of the new town.” Tigran Sargsyan expressed hope that the construction of this town will open a new chapter not only in the history of the Armenian people, but also in that of other civilizations.
ARMENIAN PAVILION STANDS FIRST
The government delegation of Armenia attended a function on release of a new independence-dedicated post stamp by “Haypost.” Also presented was a stamp dedicated to the Armenian stand at Shanghai Expo – 2010. “The presentation of these independence-dedicated post stamps is meaningful as it implies follow-up and continuity,” Tigran Sargsyan noticed during the event.
The meeting took note of Expo Shanghai Online Bureau’s decision to award Armenia the top prize for best virtual pavilion performance.
Besides, the Armenian pavilion was awarded a silver medal for technological devise and engineering solutions.
Faithful to the motto proclaimed by the Armenian party, the head of Republic of Armenia government went to see the stands of other countries and attended a gala concert in Europe Square featuring artists from Armenia.
As assured by those in charge of Armenia’s pavilion, the stand has had enough of visitor queues since its opening last May which is a proof of growing interest for our products.
