PM Receives CIS Observer Mission Delegation

Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation led by head of CIS observer mission for Armenia’s May 6 parliamentary election, Deputy Chairman of CIS Executive Committee Vladimir Garkun.

Thanking the Prime Minister for invitation, Mr. Garkun said the mission comprises 173 observers and gave the details of the nationwide monitoring carried out since April 16.

The head of CIS observer mission highlighted the smooth pace of electoral campaign, with equal conditions offered to all candidates by mass media, as well as the open and transparent work of central and district election commissions. He expressed gratitude for support and conveyed greetings on behalf of CIS Executive Committee Chairman Sergey Lebedev.

Appreciating the mission’s efforts, Tigran Sargsyan stated in part: “We are trying to make this election qualitatively different from the previous ones. In this respect, your presence will help provide unbiased and objective information.”

The parties took the opportunity to discuss issues concerning the upcoming sitting of the CIS Council of Heads of Government to be held this May 30 in Ashkhabad.
