PM Receives Freedom Fighters
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan met with the freedom fighters, who are staging a sit-in action on the Freedom Square.
“Certain work has been done since our latest meeting. We want to touch on all those issues raised during the previous meeting and discuss your suggestions and the steps ahead,” the head of government said.
As instructed by the Prime Minister, proposals on freedom fighters’ issues were submitted by Minister-Chief of Staff of Government Staff Vache Gabrielyan, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Artem Asatryan, Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan, Deputy Defense Minister Ara Nazaryan, Deputy Minister of Education and Science Karine Haroutunyan, Deputy Chief of Police Hovhannes Hunanyan.
In particular, the meeting discussed issues related to the status and the updated lists of freedom fighters, implementation of programs in accordance with such status (housing, medical care, education, utilities, pensions and benefits), patriotic education, freedom fight-related museum activities and other issues.
It was agreed that the freedom fighters should cooperate with relevant authorities within working groups in order to unfold a comprehensive discussion of the issues raised and develop ways for their solutions. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said that the proposed solutions will be discussed during the next government sitting.
