PM introduced to Kotayk Marz-based companies’ investment projects










Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan traveled today to Kotayk Marz of Armenia.

The head of government first called at Shahnazaryan Company’s “Wine and Brandy House” to get familiar with the manufacturing processes and investment projects. The company’s products are exported to Russia, Kazakhstan, Romania and Poland. Talks are underway to launch exports to Bulgaria. The Company is expected to export about 2-2.5 million bottles of brandy this year.

USD 7 million and 5 million will be invested for the purchase of new manufacturing equipment and grapes harvesting machinery respectively. There are currently 80 jobs available at the Company with an average salary of 240 thousand drams. The projected investment is expected to generate additional 30 new jobs. About 10 tons of grapes will be purveyed this year. The company executives thanked the Premier for continued thoughtfulness of brandy and wine-making industry.

Arriving in Yeghvard town of Nairi region, the Prime Minister met with the inhabitants of the residential building located at Yerevanyan-17. After listening to their concerns, the Prime Minister promised to address the problem of ownership certificates.

Hovik Abrahamyan’s next stop was at Bio Group. Equipped with modern imported from the Netherlands, the company is cultivating tomatoes on 1.8 hectares, of which around 2-3 percent is black tomato.

The Company is set to expand the plantations of black tomato up to 15-20%. The Company currently employs 26 people. Under its new investment program, Bio Group is planning to build a greenhouse facility in Dzorakhpyur community by this yearend on an area of 10.7 thousand square meters for the production of cucumbers and 4 species of tomato. To this end, AMD 657.7 million will be invested that will take the annual output up to AMD 700 million, most of which will be exported to Georgia, Russia and the UAE. 22 new jobs will be created under the program.

The Prime Minister next visited Biga Company in Akunq community. They have planted 16 thousand raspberry, 4 thousand blackberry and 350 thousand strawberry plantlets on an area of 10 hectares. The bulk of output is exported to Russia and UAE. The Company is also launching a pilot greenhouse ventilation system. Work is underway to set up vineyards on 6 hectares to a total cost of USD 3.5 million.

The Company has imported completely new varieties of cherry trees to be planted this spring. Some 70 residents of surrounding communities are employed in the enterprise. Hovik Abrahamyan attended the opening of Akunq community’s renovated school building.

The Premier toured the school getting familiar with the activities completed and schooling conditions. The Government has allocated AMD 114 million for the refurbishment of the school building.

Hovik Abrahamyan next visited reinforcing steel fixtures-producing Aske Group Co. The CEO advised that casting and rolling mills were launched last October. 10-32-caliber fittings are produced currently, using local scrap metal as raw material and fire-resistant materials imported from abroad.

After reaching the projected capacity, the plant will be able to produce 120 thousand tons of reinforced metal fixtures annually. The Company employs over 400 people with an average salary of 200 thousand drams.
