Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan Starts Official Visit to Islamic Republic of Iran
At the invitation of Iran’s First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri, Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan arrived in the Islamic Republic of Iran on a two-day official visit.
After the official welcoming ceremony in Tehran’s Mehrabagh airport, the Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan-led delegation headed for the Royal Saadabad Palace, where a private meeting was held between Hovik Abrahamyan and Es’haq Jahangiri.
Thanking Es’haq Jahangiri for the invitation to visit Iran, Prime Minister Abrahamyan expressed confidence that his visit will contribute to the strengthening of ties between the two friendly peoples and add momentum to the ongoing mutually beneficial cooperation.
“Today we can state that the Armenian-Iranian relations are at a high-level and continue developing in an atmosphere of mutual trust as evidenced by reciprocated frequent visits of high-ranking delegations from the two countries. I am confident that the Armenian-Iranian cooperation is conducive to regional peace and stability,” Hovik Abrahamyan noted.
IRI First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri thanked Hovik Abrahamyan for accepting his invitation and appreciated the current level of bilateral relationship.
Noting that economic exchanges lag behind the high-level political dialogue, Es’haq Jahangiri expressed confidence that the Armenian Prime Minister’s official visit may help boost economic cooperation.
Stressing that there is great potential to activate economic cooperation, Hovik Abrahamyan said everything should be done to breathe new life into and give effect to the joint projects and programs. The role of the intergovernmental commission was emphasized as a platform to deal with the cooperation programs. The parties once again stressed the need for boosting economic ties and cooperation in a number of areas.
Prime Minister Abrahamyan said Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union may open up new prospects for economic development, as well as opportunities for foreign investment.
The private talks were followed by an enlarged meeting, which addressed a number of projects of strategic significance, and in this context, underscored the role to be played by the intergovernmental commission.
Cooperation in the fields of agriculture, energy, communications, culture, education, emergency situations and tourism was highlighted on either side.
In conclusion, Prime Minister Abrahamyan invited Es’haq Jahangiri to pay an official visit to Armenia at his convenience.
