On September 14, RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan is leaving for Astana, capital of Kazakhstan, to attend the September 15 Ordinary Session of the Council of Heads of Governments of CIS- member States.
The delegation led by the Prime Minister will include Vardan Oskanyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs, M. Topuzyan, Minister-Chief of Government Staff, Suren Haroutiunyan, Permanent Authorized Representative of the Republic of Armenia to CIS Statutory and Other Bodies, Artak Vardanyan, Permanent Authorized Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the Commission on Economic Affairs under CIS Economic Council, heads of relevant departments in the Government Staff and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia.
Agenda items of the upcoming session of the Council of Heads of Governments of CIS States will include discussion of matters concerning the activities of the Bureau for the Coordination of the Struggle Against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Offences On The Territory of CIS-member States, the report on recent activities carried out by the Bureau, as well as issues bearing on the setting up of a regional operative task force within the Unit of the Bureau, which coordinates the fight against illegal traffic of narcotic drugs and precursors in the Central Asian Region. Special focus is due to be placed upon economic issues. In particular, the Prime Ministers will address such matters as may have an adverse effect on multilateral economic and commercial cooperation within the CIS framework, they will discuss the common budget of CIS bodies as funded from member States' national budgets. Also, the Prime Ministers are scheduled to look into the possibility of furnishing the Economic Council of the Commonwealth with the authority of taking final decisions upon drafts of various documents on behalf of the Council of Heads of Governments of CIS States.
The heads of CIS governments will refer to eventual cooperation in the field of TV and radio broadcasts in preparation for the celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the Glorious Victory in the 1941-1945 Great Patriotic War. They will also discuss matters concerning the share of contribution to be made by each member State in funding capital repairs and rehabilitation work at Hero Fort of Brest memorial complex.
Apart from discussing the foregoing issues, the Prime Ministers of CIS-member States are supposed to sign a number of agreements on the development of cooperation in a number of fields, namely: energy, transport, education, the fight against illegal migration, military cooperation etc.
