Armenia has much to say and do in the IT sphere - Arayik Harutyunyan bestows State Award of the Republic of Armenia for Global Contribution in IT sphere

Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan took part in the awarding ceremony of the State Award for Global Contribution in IT sphere . The 2020 State Award was bestowed on President and co-Chief Executive Officer of Synopsys Dr. Chi-Foon Chan.

Arayik Harutyunyan bestowed the award on Chi-Foon Chan and congratulated him. “Unfortunately, last year we were unable to organize this event for well-known reasons, we are awarding the 2020 Award this year. The 2020 State Award of the Republic of Armenia for Global Contribution in IT sphere has a very strong goal - to emphasize that Armenia has something to say and do in this area. Hosting the global leaders here is one of the best proofs of that.

I know for sure that our award winners receive many similar offers from different countries, but choose few of them, because if an award is given in a specific field, they look at what contribution or success the country has in that field, what is the future of that field in that country. I am sure that Chi-Foon Chan had such filters when making his choice. And as a “code man”, let me tell you that we love dealing with codes. We wrote a code in the ancient maps - "Armenia" - that code allowed us to have a legitimate right to exist in the 21st century, to develop and to give the world innovations. In the 5th century, we wrote another code in the form of the Armenian letters in order to bring not only our culture, but also the world culture to the 21st century through codes. I am very glad that in a few days you will be hosted at the Matenadaran, you will see how much coded material we have brought to the 21st century. Unfortunately, we have not yet been able to fully decipher them and the specialists of the sphere who are here, also with your support, will be able to deliver this information to the world through innovative technologies. In the 20th century, our technological fathers also created codes, they made their contribution to the field of technology, which created a good basis for us to make serious progress in this field now and in the future”, Arayik Harutyunyan said.

The Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister once again congratulated Chi-Foon Chan and expressed confidence that his cooperation with Armenian technology companies will have a future. “This is very important for the Government, because the IT sector and technological development is one of our priorities, which is reflected in our programs, including educational programs. Cooperation with IT companies is also one of those priorities”, Arayik Harutyunyan said.

Chi-Foon Chan thanked for the high appreciation of his work, emphasizing that he attaches great importance to this award. "Activities of the IT sphere should be for the benefit of humanity. We, as professionals, must build systems that should be safe, reliable and secure," Chi-Foon Chan said. The President of Synopsys also thanked the team of the Armenian branch for the joint and effective work.

Afterwards, cancellation ceremony of a special envelope and a postcard dedicated to the State Award of Armenia for Global Contribution in IT took place, which was anttended by Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of High-Tech Industry Vahagn Khachaturyan, Chief Executive Officer of HayPost Hayk Karapetyan, The 11th winner of the state award in the field of IT Chi-Foon Chan, President of the Armenian Association of Philatelists Hovik Musayelyan.
