On November 30, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Hambardzum Matevosyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, other high-ranking officials and MPs attended the reopening ceremony of Armavir City Stadium. Hambardzum Matevosyan and Arayik Harutyunyan walked around the stadium, got acquainted with the work done, the technical capabilities and restored capacities of the stadium.
Reconstruction of Armavir stadium started in 2018 and was suspended in 2019 due to technical reasons. Construction works resumed in 2021 with a new design. Reconstruction costs amounted to 688 million AMD. Prior to that, 4 playing fields (three natural, one artificial) had been built in the area of the stadium, the cost of which was 400 million AMD. Most of the construction was carried out by the FFA with the partial support of FIFA and UEFA.
The Armavir stadium, built in 1980, was initially called "Jubilee". In 1985 the Colombia-Tunisia match of the group stage of the World Youth Championship was held here.
