Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan receives Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia
On January 26, Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan received Lila Pieters Yahia, Acting UN Resident Coordinator in Armenia.
The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated the UN representative on her appointment to the responsible position and expressed readiness for close cooperation for the implementation of ambitious programs aimed at promoting democracy, security, peace and stability.
Hambardzum Matevosyan highly valued the support and efforts of the UN Office in the fight against COVID-19 in Armenia, the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the solution of humanitarian issues caused by the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Lila Pieters Yahia noted that despite the challenges of 2020, Armenia continues to move forward, and the UN is ready to support the development agenda of the Armenian government within the framework of its mandate.
During the meeting the sides discussed a wide range of issues of bilateral interest and agreed to make cooperation more effective in e-government and in a number of other areas.
