Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received World Bank Vice President

Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan received World Bank Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Anna Bjerde.

Greeting the guest, the Deputy Prime Minister thanked the WB, particularly the Armenian team, for standing with Armenia in a period full of challenges and for supporting, emphasizing the role of the WB assistance in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Mher Grigoryan mentioned that the cooperation with the WB has a key role for Armenia from the point of view of both volume and content. Presenting the new guidelines of the Government’s new Action Plan, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that the comprehensive framework of cooperation with the WB creates a serious basis to continue the joint works in the direction of implementation of the priority reforms of the Government.

WB Vice President Anna Bjerde, thanking for the reception, emphasized that the Government Action Plan has been assessed by the WB and other development partners of Armenia as a targeted and comprehensive programme for meeting the challenges. Anna Bjerde on behalf of the WB expressed readiness to continue to support the Government in the implementation of outlined programmes.

The sides highlighted particularly the public administration reforms, including the digitalization process and the activities aimed at increasing public administration efficiency. The efforts aimed at the development of human capital were discussed, in particular, in the context of meeting the challenges caused by the pandemic in healthcare and education fields.

The interlocutors shared thoughts concerning the popularization of vaccination against COVID-19, the increase of public trust related to the vaccination process and the deepening of cooperation in that direction.

A reference was made also to the development of green economy in Armenia, as well as to the necessity of introduction of promotional tools by the Government in that direction.
