Armenia has improved its position in the fight against human trafficking - Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan instructсs to make greater efforts to ensure progress in the sphere
The sitting of the Council on Fighting Trafficking and Exploitation in Human Beings in the Republic of Armenia chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan took place today.
Welcoming the participants of the sitting, the Deputy Prime Minister noted that the Republic of Armenia has registered significant successes in the fight against trafficking and exploitation of human beings, which, according to Hambardzum Matevosyan, became a reality also through the efforts of the Council and the working group adjunct to the Council. The Deputy Prime Minister considered the high level of inter-agency cooperation as one of the guarantees of progress in the fight against this phenomenon, as well as the efforts of the partners who strongly support Armenia, the Council of Europe, the US Government and international and non-governmental organizations.
"Despite the progress made in the sphere, the challenges facing Armenia lead us to making greater efforts, to be more active in improving our positions," Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan said, wishing everyone fruitful work.
According to the agenda, the Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia Tatevik Stepanyan presented the works carried out in 2021 within the framework of the "National Action Plan for 2020-2022 on the Fight Against Trafficking in Human Beings and Exploitation", informing that all of the 19 planned actions have been implemented.
Afterwards, Armen Ghazaryan, Head of the Migration Service of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Secretary of the Council, presented the current challenges in the field and the actions taken to meet them, and Tigran Hovhannisyan, a representative of World Vision Armenia, spoke about the goals and activities of the “Together Against Human Trafficking” program.
