Road repairs, school construction, opening of a regional center for social services. Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan visited Tavush Province
Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan was in Tavush on a regular regional visit on July 15. The purpose of the visit was to observe the progress of the projects being implemented in a number of communities with subsidy programs, state budget funding and the support of international partners.
The Deputy Prime Minister was accompanied by Governor of Tavush Hayk Ghalumyan, Executive Director of "Road Department" Foundation Gor Avetisyan, Executive Director of Armenia Territorial Development Fund Artur Soghomonyan, community heads and others.
Hambardzum Matevosyan's first stop in the Dilijan community was at the hairpin turns section, where the improvement works have started. Note that a few days ago, on July 14, during the Cabinet meeting, it was decided to allocate money from the reserve fund for the major repair of the 5 km section of the M4 interstate highway, the hairpin turns of Dilijan. After observing the progress of the works and giving instructions in a number of directions, the Deputy Prime Minister also got acquainted with the energy-efficient repair and modernization of 11 residential buildings in Dilijan carried out in cooperation with the UNDP, which include improvement of roofs, repair of entrances and the thermal insulation of all external surfaces of the buildings. These works will be completed in October 2022.
Then, Hambardzum Matevosyan visited the road section from 37/2 Myasnikyan Street to 117/4 Myasnikyan Street, where the 2.2 km long road repair works will start with the funds of the state budget and the municipal budget.
Again in Dilijan, Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan visited the construction site of the pavilions being built for the sale of agricultural products with the co-financing of the grant fund aimed at mitigating the negative impact of the pandemic in enlarged communities, the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the German Corporation for International Cooperation, and got acquainted with the progress of the works that started this year.
During the visit, the Deputy Prime Minister and the Governor also visited the N military unit of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia in Ijevan, paid tribute and laid flowers at the memorial wall eternalizing the memory of the soldiers who died in the 44-day Artsakh war.
The next stop of the regional visit was in Berd community, where within the framework of the subsidy program, road repairs and paving works were being carried out on Adamyan and Nzhdeh streets. In particular, a 275 m³ retaining wall will be built, 1400 meters of road paving will be carried out on Nzhdeh Street with tuff and granite tiles, and 340 meters of road paving with granite tiles will be carried out on Adamyan Street. A total of 8,000 m² of tuff tiling and 2,450 m² of granite tiling will be carried out.
In Berd community, Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan, along with Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Narek Mkrtchyan, participated in the opening of the regional center of Unified Social Services, which became a reality as a result of the Government-World Bank cooperation. Note that the regional center of the Unified Social Services of Berd, as a territorial structure that is part of the integrated social services system, will provide social services to around 32 thousand residents of 17 settlements of Berd region of Tavush Province. During the tour, the Deputy Prime Minister was presented with the 4 social services included in the Center: (territorial department of social security, regional employment center, medical and social examination commission, regional agency of social assistance) and the unified reception hall. It should be added that currently 33 territorial centers of Unified Social Services are operating in the country, construction and renovation works of 12 are in progress, and the packages of design and estimate documents for another 4 are in the development process.
After the opening event, Deputy Prime Minister Matevosyan also visited the Gandzakar settlement of Ijevan community, where school construction works started in 2021, with the funds of the state budget of the Republic of Armenia and the financing of the Asian Development Bank, within the framework of the "Seismic Safety Improvement Program". It is planned that the school comprised of three-storied 5 buildings will be put into operation in July 2023.
The last stop of the regional visit was at the construction site of the Ijevan-Navur-Berd-Aygepar republican road, where earthworks are currently being carried out. The overhaul works of the 36.5 km long road worth 3.5 billion AMD will be completed in June 2023.
