Deputy PM Matevosyan chairs consultation on a number of issues related to the agricultural season



On August 23, the regular meeting of the Agriculture Working Group was held, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan.

The Governors of Ararat, Armavir, Vayots Dzor Provinces, deputy ministers, and other representatives of concerned state bodies participated in the meeting.

Deputy Minister of Economy Arman Khojoyan provided the Deputy Prime Minister with information on the current situation of procurement and exports of fruits and vegetables, Chairman of the Water Committee Vahagn Gevorgyan presented the works in the field of irrigation, emphasizing in particular that according to preliminary calculations, in case of absence of autumn weather with high temperature and long dry periods, there will be no need to release more water from Lake Sevan than the amount prescribed by law. In his report, the Head of the Food Safety Inspection Body Georgi Avetisyan referred to the results of the meat market control, particularly the situation with slaughterhouses, and also presented the results of animal and plant disease monitoring.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan gave a number of instructions, which mainly related to the prevention of possible problems related to the grape procurement process, raising public awareness about the state support programs implemented by the regional administrations in the agricultural sector, etc.
