Deputy PM Matevosyan receives Masanori Fukushima, Ambassador of Japan to the Republic of Armenia



On September 30, Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan received Masanori Fukushima, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Armenia.

Referring to the thirty-year history of diplomatic relations with Japan, Matevosyan emphasized the efforts aimed at the continuous deepening of friendly relations between the two countries.

The interlocutors particularly emphasized the need to realize the existing potential in bilateral political and economic relations, including in the fields of information technology, innovation, digitization and tourism.

Along with the need to expand the agenda of bilateral economic and political cooperation, Japan’s Ambassador to Armenia Masanori Fukushima highlighted the importance of initiating human contacts and youth exchange programs aimed at deepening the bilateral cultural dialogue.

During the meeting, reference was also made to the consequences of the large-scale aggression unleashed by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia on September 13. Ambassador Fukushima informed about the previous day's visit to the affected settlements of Gegharkunik region with the heads of accredited diplomatic missions in Armenia, expressing concern about the situation, as well as reaffirming Japan's willingness to contribute to the peaceful settlement of issues.
