Deputy PM Hambardzum Matevosyan chairs regular session of the Council for the Improvement of the Demographic Situation
The regular session of the Council for the Improvement of the Demographic Situation was convened under the leadership of Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan. The discussion of the analysis of the demographic situation in Armenia developed within the framework of the Demographic Strategy was on the agenda.
The strategy is being developed by the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs with the support of the UNFPA Armenia and in cooperation with the Ameria advisory company. Leading institutes in the field of demographic research are also involved in the development of the document: the Wittgenstein Center for Demography and Global Human Capital and the Charles University in Prague.
Emphasizing the need to have a demographic strategy of Armenia, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the implementation of the works aimed at the development of fact-based policies aimed at improving the demographic situation in Armenia. The Deputy Prime Minister particularly emphasized the need to ensure an inclusive and participatory strategy development process.
After completing the work, the final version of the Strategy will be discussed at the Wittgenstein Center for Demography and Global Human Capital, after which it will be put up for public discussion.
