Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan received the acting permanent representative of the United Nations in Armenia, the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund, Christine Weigand



Yesterday, Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan received the acting permanent representative of the United Nations in Armenia, the representative of the United Nations Children's Fund, Christine Weigand.

Welcoming the interlocutor, the Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the role of the United Nations Children's Fund in overcoming problems related to the protection of children's rights, and overcoming the problems related to the improvement of their health and living conditions in Armenia.

Referring to the 2021-2025 action plan of UNICEF in Armenia, the Deputy Prime Minister particularly emphasized the inclusion of a humanitarian response aimed at addressing the needs of children displaced as a result of the large-scale military operations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone and living in conflict-affected communities within the framework of a number of actions.

Christine Weigand, for her part, expressed satisfaction with the dynamics of cooperation with state administration bodies, particularly within the framework of ongoing legislative initiatives regarding children's rights, expressing confidence in the continuation of cooperation in accordance with bilateral priorities and goals.

The interlocutors also referred to the possibilities of expanding cooperation, including in the direction of improving the conditions of children's education, as well as collecting and analyzing data on the situation of children.
