Tigran Khachatryan chairs session of the Council for Demographic Improvement
Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan chaired the regular session of the Council for Demographic Improvement.
The session was attended by representatives of the National Assembly, the Government and the UN Population Fund. The main issues on the agenda were related to the presentation of the strategic sector for the improvement of the demographic situation, including the problems, programs, resources and deadlines related to the achievement of the demographic target indicators.
Welcoming the attendees, Deputy Prime Minister Khachatryan emphasized that the development and implementation of programs aimed at improving the demographic situation are of key importance for the sustainable development of the state and, to that end, for the decision-making process for the development of educational, health, social and employment policies aimed at the growth of human capital, and added that finding effective solutions for these issues is among the Government's priorities.
"It’s beyond doubt that target programs are an important component of the demographic situation improvement policy. We already have launched birth promotion programs. From January 1, 2022, the scope of beneficiaries of allowances for up to 2-year-old child care has been expanded, including more non-working mothers, regardless of their place of registration. In connection with the birth of the 3rd and every subsequent child in the family on or after January 1, 2022, the state provides monetary support in the amount of 50 thousand drams per month until the child reaches the age of 6.
As a guarantee of birth promotion, we should keep in the center of our attention measures that support combining the work of parents with children and child care. The monitoring and dynamic analysis of the programs implemented in the direction of improving the demographic situation are no less important.
I am confident that the "Demographic Strategy" being developed by our partners for the years 2023-2030 will ensure the solution of the listed issues," the Deputy Prime Minister said.
