We are ready to host even larger tournaments in the Republic of Armenia. Arayik Harutyunyan

Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, chairman of the interdepartmental commission for the preparation and organization of the European Weightlifting Championship-2023, Arayik Harutyunyan, today participated in the Congress of the European Weightlifting Federation, which is being held in Yerevan for the first time.

Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Karen Giloyan, representatives of national federations that are members of the International Federation also participated in the Congress.

Arayik Harutyunyan welcomed the visit of the delegates of the European Weightlifting Federation to Yerevan, which will be the European capital of weightlifting in the coming weeks and will host the European Championship.

Thanking all the delegates for accepting the invitation to visit Armenia and participate in the Congress, Arayik Harutyunyan expressed confidence that the decisions taken at the Congress will benefit the development of weightlifting not only in Europe, but also in the whole world, because the European continent has a great contribution to the development of weightlifting in the world.

"Tomorrow the European Weightlifting Championship will start in Armenia and the Government of the Republic of Armenia has spared no effort to make it one of the best championships ever held in this sport. We do all this for several purposes. Surely any country that hosts the European Weightlifting Championships or other sports championships tries to solve several issues, the most important of which is the development of the given sport in the given country.

You know that Armenia, Armenians have made great achievements in this sport, and we want to develop these achievements now and in the future. With this step and this contribution, we also want to develop weightlifting in the world so that it occupies a permanent place in the big family of sports, in the Olympic family.

I am sure that after you leave the Republic of Armenia, after the championship, you will surely say that together, all of us, we have made a great contribution to the development of weightlifting not only in Armenia, not only in Europe, but also in the whole world," Arayik Harutyunyan said.

Emphasizing the role of the Congress participants in the development of weightlifting, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister emphasized. "I want to ask you to support us in our efforts to develop this sport. We are ready to host even bigger tournaments in the Republic of Armenia in the near future, and I would expect your support in this matter.

I also want to thank the leadership of the big European weightlifting family federation for granting Armenia the right to host the Weightlifting European Championship 2023. We have had effective cooperation with the leadership of the European Federation and I am sure that you will feel the positive results of that cooperation in the coming days."

During the Congress, the technical delegates of the European Championship to be held in Yerevan were confirmed, the annual reports of the President, Secretary General and other officials, financial, anti-doping and other reports were presented. Organizational issues related to the European junior and youth championships and other tournaments to be held in the near future were also discussed.
