The third meeting of the Policy Dialogue of the "GREEN Armenia" Platform took place

Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan chaired the third meeting of the Policy Dialogue of the "GREEN Armenia" Platform. The head of the EU office in Armenia, Ambassador Andrea Wiktorin, the Resident Representative of UNDP in Armenia Natia Natsvlishvili, World Bank country manager for Armenia Carolin Geginat, as well as representatives of international organizations, concerned public, private and academic institutions participated in the discussion.

The purpose of the event was to raise the issues related to the improvement of atmospheric air quality in Armenia, including the need to introduce a complex atmospheric air monitoring system.

Welcoming the participants of the discussion, Deputy Prime Minister Khachatryan emphasized the importance of the high-level dialogue platform formed between the Government and international partners on the "Green Armenia" policy, as an important stimulus for promoting the country's sustainable development agenda. Referring to the necessity of introducing a complex system of atmospheric air monitoring, the Deputy Prime Minister noted: "Every day we deal with large-scale data, the collection and use of which is extremely important in the decision-making process. From this point of view, the presence of a complex atmospheric air monitoring system is also essential. It will give us access to accurate data, enabling a comprehensive understanding of the sources of air pollution, as well as their nature and impact, which is essential from the point of view of developing evidence-based regulations and implementing targeted interventions."

The participants of the discussion also exchanged ideas regarding the reformed legislative and policy framework for atmospheric air protection, problems related to the management of point sources of air pollution, as well as the road map for air quality improvement.

At the end of the meeting, Tigran Khachatryan highly appreciated the efforts and willingness of all partners and beneficiaries to combine their knowledge, experience and resources for the promotion of the green agenda.
