A meeting of the working group on the management of the humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh took place
On July 25, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan chaired the regular meeting of the working group on the support to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh in humanitarian crisis, established by the decision of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia.
Тhe working group discussed the humanitarian crisis unfolded in Nagorno-Karabakh in a result of the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor by Azerbaijan since December 12, 2022.
The working group took a record of the fact that since June 15, the transportation of an already extremely limited amount of humanitarian cargo, carried out previously by the peacekeeping forces of the Russian Federation and the Red Cross, has become impossible. As a result, Nagorno-Karabakh is currently facing an acute shortage of essential goods such as food, medicine, medical and hygiene supplies, fuel, which, in addition to the disruption of electricity, dysfunction of healthcare system, educational institutions and social services, as well as the cessation of the agricultural work, has led to catastrophic consequences.
A particularly severe impact of the unfolded situation on vulnerable groups of the population: children, pregnant women, people with disabilities, the elderly and chronic patients was underscored.
The working group took decisions on urgent humanitarian aid of food and medicine to the people of Nagorno-Karabakh.
