Arayik Harutyunyan attends the closing ceremony of the 8th Pan-Armenian Games
Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, Chairman of the organizing committee of the 8th Pan-Armenian Summer Games Arayik Harutyunyan attended the closing ceremony of the 8th Pan-Armenian Summer Games on August 19, which took place in the Garni Temple.
President Vahagn Khachaturyan, Chairman of the Pan-Armenian Games World Committee Ishkhan Zakaryan, members of the governmental organizing committee, representatives of the organizing committee of the Pan-Armenian Games, athletes, members of delegations were also present at the event.
More than 7,000 athletes from 181 cities of 41 countries took part in the 8th Pan-Armenian Games under the motto "Unity through Sports". The athletes competed for prize-winning places in 19 sports. 107 sets of medals were drawn. About 500 referees officiated the competitions.
In total, 48 cities of 15 countries won medals. The most medals went to the delegates of Yerevan. During the Pan-Armenian Games, several awards were established. Thus, Anna Aslanyan, a basketball player from the city of Beverly Hills, USA, became the winner of the Pan-Armenian Games beauty pageant, Sydney, Australia was named the best delegation, Buenos Aires, Argentina was named the winner in the Fair Play category, Kazakhstan's team was named the winner in the Pan-Armenian Games revelation category, the Stepanakert team was declared the winner in the sports courage category. The London team won the best city category, the other winner of the same category is Artik.
About 2,000 volunteers supported the Pan-Armenian Games. During the closing ceremony, with the help of four volunteers, the flag of Pan-Armenian Games was lowered and the torch of the 8th Pan-Armenian Summer Games was extinguished.
