Works to meet the humanitarian needs of forcibly displaced people from Nagorno Karabakh continue
Prime Minister's Press Secretary Nazeli Baghdasaryan and Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan presented from the Government's "Humanitarian Center" the processes that the Armenian government implements to meet the humanitarian needs of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh.
Nazeli Baghdasaryan noted that the number of displaced persons remains the same: 100,632. She noted that along with the registration, an identification process is also being carried out. Clarifying what this means, the press secretary of the Prime Minister noted that the persons who entered Armenia very often went through the registration process in Goris, and then at the place of residence. There are also cases when, after being registered at the initial place of residence, they left for another place, where they were registered again. To avoid duplication, an identification process is also implemented. As of now, according to Nazel Baghdasaryan, the number of registered and identified persons is around 98,000.
According to Nazeli Baghdasaryan, as of today, 6,592 students attend school. The distribution by regions is as follows. Syunik: 237, Vayots Dzor: 117, Gegharkunik: 303, Ararat: 1112, Kotayk: 1118, Aragatsotn: 329, Armavir: 516, Shirak: 237, Lori: 352, Tavush: 70 and Yerevan: 2201. The number of school-aged children is over 21,000.
The work to fill the vacancies of teachers is also continuing. According to Nazeli Baghdasaryan, the process of filling vacant positions will not be based on competition for teachers forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh. There are currently 1035 teacher vacancies.
There are 273 vacancies for Senior Medical Officer and 59 Junior Medical Officer. Some of the forcibly displaced persons are now undergoing training courses within the framework of the state order. The hotline of the Ministry of Health is 8003.
The press secretary of the Prime Minister informed that the works aimed at taking care of the accommodation, food, and hygiene needs of the forcibly displaced persons are continuing in the regions.
Syunik Governor Robert Ghukasyan stated that 5,257 forcibly displaced people from Nagorno Karabakh are now in the region, of which more than 4,000 are not in hotels or guesthouses, but in rented apartments or in private houses in rural areas. At the moment, food and hygiene kits for 4,100 people have either already been distributed or are in the process of being distributed.
The Prime Minister's press secretary informed that already today at the Cabinet meeting, a decision was made to allocate 100,000 AMD from the state budget for one-time support. Transfers will start tomorrow.
