With the participation of international humanitarian and development partner structures, a discussion was held aimed at coordinating the work of addressing the needs of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh
Chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan and with the participation of heads of international humanitarian and development partner structures, a discussion was held aimed at coordinating the work of addressing the needs of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
Welcoming the attendees, the Deputy Prime Minister presented the situation resulted by the forced displacement of more than 100,000 people from Nagorno Karabakh, referring in detail to the work aimed at addressing the primary, mid-term and long-term needs of our forcibly displaced compatriots.
Philippe Leclerc, the Director of the UNHCR Regional Bureau for Europe, also made a speech of welcome, reaffirming the willingness of the office to contribute to the effective coordination of the response.
Deputy Prime Minister Khachatryan highly appreciated the programs already launched by the international humanitarian and development structures to address the needs of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh. From the point of view of ensuring the addressability of the works, the possibility of cooperation with partner structures within the response tool presented by the Government was highlighted.
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed hope that international partners and specialized agencies will support Armenia and the forcibly displaced Armenians from Nagorno Karabakh in overcoming the consequences of this disaster and providing stable living conditions for our compatriots.
At the meeting, the response plan developed by the UNHCR was presented, as well as the format of the planned works and the main priorities were referred to.
