Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan receives the CoE Human Rights Commissioner
On October 18, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan received the delegation led by Council of Europe Human Rights Commissioner Dunja Mijatović.
Thanking for visiting Armenia, the Deputy Prime Minister presented the situation resulted by the forced displacement of the population of Nagorno-Karabakh, presenting details on the basic needs of the displaced population and the work being done to address them.
In particular, Tigran Khachatryan presented the steps taken by the Armenian government to provide accommodation and other primary needs to our compatriots who were forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as outlined the mid-term and long-term measures to ensure stable living conditions for them.
The Deputy Prime Minister also addressed the socio-psychological and other needs of the most vulnerable groups, including children, women, the elderly.
The Human Rights Commissioner of the Council of Europe thanked Tigran Khachatryan for the opportunity to have a detailed discussion on the current situation.
The interlocutors also touched on a wide range of issues related to the protection of the rights of people forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh.
