5351 of our compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh are already employed
During today's briefing at the "Humanitarian Center", Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ruben Sargsyan and press secretary Zaruhi Manucharyan presented details about the work and employment of our compatriots who were forcibly displaced from Nagorno Karabakh, as well as the procedures for assigning pensions and allowances.
As Ruben Sargsyan noted, about 5,351 people from those forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh are already employed in manufacturing industry, education, service, construction and other sectors. According to him, as of December 4, 3,929 jobseekers were registered in 49 centers of the Unified Social Service, of which 3,737 received the status of unemployed, 1,608 received job referrals, as a result of which 438 already have jobs.
The Deputy Minister informed that two emplyment programs are being developed and are in the finalization stage. After approval, they will operate from 2024. It was also noted that the Ministries of Health and Education, Science, Culture and Sports are also implementing special measures to support the employment of relevant sector specialists. In addition, various employment programs are being implemented and planned with international partners. Zaruhi Manucharyan presented the procedures for assigning child care for a child under two years of age, one-time birth allowance and maternity benefits.
"And at the end, as for the maternity allowance, a person can apply for the appointment of maternity allowance in Armenia, if she is registered in the state register of the population of the Republic of Armenia with the address of the place of residence in Armenia and she had not been assigned maternity allowance in Nagorno-Karabakh. If a person does not work and was forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh during the period of having the right for maternity leave, i.e. 140 days, or within 70 days after the birth of the child, she may apply for maternity benefits after December 11, 2023, within 140 days. In case of applying after that period, maternity benefit will not be assigned," said Zaruhi Manucharyan, adding that the application for assigning maternity benefit must be submitted to the Unified Social Service within the specified period.
The press secretary of the minister also informed that it is necessary to attach to the application the certificate of temporary incapacity for work issued by a medical organization of the Armenia or the medical organization located in Nagorno-Karabakh, and in its absence, the child's birth certificate. The employer will assign, calculate and pay the maternity benefit to working mothers in general procedure.
