Arayik Harutyunyan chairs the discussion on the preparations for participating in the Olympic Games and the implementation of the Prime Minister's instructions
A consultation was held under the leadership of the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, during which the implementation of the instructions arising from the meeting of the Prime Minister with the participants of the Olympic Games on August 16, 2021 and the preparations for the participation in the Paris-2024 Olympic Games were discussed.
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Zhanna Andreasyan first presented the progress of the implementation of the instructions and noted that the construction and improvement works of the weightlifting gymnasium after Simon Martirosyan have been completed, and the construction of the new sports complex "Arthur Aleksanyan Greco-Roman Wrestling School for Children and Youth" is in progress. Completion is expected in 2025. Information on sports infrastructure was also presented. In particular, the reconstruction of the "Kilikia" gymnasium building has been completed, the building was put into operation and used during the European Weightlifting Championship held in Yerevan on April 13-23, 2023, the renovation works of the sports school of Berd community of Tavush region are completed, the renovation works of the gymnasiums of the Yerevan State Sports College of Olympic Reserve are continuing.
The officials in-charge presented to the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister the preparations for the 33rd Olympic Games to be held in Paris in 2024. Accordingly, legislative changes were implemented, the Olympic teams of Armenia preparing for the Olympic Games have been formed, the participation of the Armenian teams in the World and European championships and international tournaments was ensured.
It was noted that the ongoing works are regularly referred to, the reports of the head coaches of the national teams regarding the results of participation in the World and European championships, qualifying competitions are discussed in order to correct the shortcomings. The condition of the sports facilities intended for the training of the teams preparing for the Olympic Games was examined for the purpose of repair and reconstruction. Proper funding has been allocated to the teams preparing for the Olympic Games for sports equipment and uniforms.
