Arayik Harutyunyan, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, chairman of the jubilee committee for the 100th birth anniversary of People's Artist of the ASSR, famous film director Sergei Parajanov, participated in the stamp redemption ceremony "World famous Armenians. 100th anniversary of the birth of Sergei Parajanov."
The event took place at the Sergei Parajanov Museum. Before the redemption ceremony, Arayik Harutyunyan congratulated Parajanov's art lovers on the occasion of the jubilee and the redemption of the stamp, and noted that the redemption of the stamp is an important event in the framework of celebrations dedicated to Parajanov's 100th anniversary. According to the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister, it is very rare for the state to issue a stamp with a theme dedicated to celebrities, but it is not the first time that a stamp with Parajanov's image is issued. "This is another opportunity to show Parajanov's art and talk, talk not only with our compatriots, but also with foreigners, because the stamp is actually a language to talk with foreigners and those who don't know Armenian. This event is also important in that sense," Arayik Harutyunyan said.
The redemption of the stamps were carried out by Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister Arayik Harutyunyan, First Deputy Minister of High-Tech Industry Gevorg Mantashyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Daniel Danielyan, Deputy CEO of HayPost Company Arman Abrahamyan, President of the Armenian Association of Philatelists Hovik Musayelyan, and Anahit Mikayelyan, director of the Parajanov Museum.
The stamp with the nominal value of AMD 320 depicts the famous Armenian film director, screenwriter, People's Artist of Armenian SSR and Ukrainian SSR Sergey Parajanov, and the stamp with the nominal value of AMD 380 depicts his collage "Variation on the Themes of Pinturicchio and Raphael". The stamps also have the inscriptions "Sergei Parajanov" and "Armenian film director" in Armenian and English.
The stamps bear the UNESCO logo, given that the 100th anniversary of Sergei Parajanov's birth is included in UNESCO Calendar of anniversaries of eminent personalities and important events 2024-2025. The stamps, designed by Vahagn Mkrtchyan, were printed by the Cartor printing house in France in 30,000 copies.
