Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan participates in the presentation of the 5th national report of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative

Today, Deputy Prime Minister Tigran Khachatryan participated in the conference dedicated to the presentation of the 5th national report of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI). The event was also attended by representatives of the government, mining organizations, civil society, the International Secretariat of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative, as well as international partner organizations.

The Deputy Prime Minister delivered a welcoming speech, in which he particularly emphasized the effective and transparent management of the metal mining industry. "Our annual gatherings aim to make the activities and data of the sector that has a significant impact on the country's economy and public life publicly recognizable, accessible, transparent and accountable," said the Deputy Prime Minister.

In his speech, Tigran Khachatryan also referred to the results of the 2nd Validation assessing the progress of the implementation of the requirements of the Standard approved by the International Council of the EITI. "Armenia has received the highest summary score so far among the participating countries. According to our partners, Armenia is a leader in the field of beneficial ownership transparency and with this success it sets a high bar for other countries that implement the EITI."

Summing up the speech, the Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Government and the multi-stakeholder group to meet the continuously increasing requirements of the EITI Standard and to carry out active work towards strengthening the good management practices of the sector.
