Today Yerevan State Engineering University has hosted the first meeting of the University Board of Trustees as attended by RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan who is a member of the Board.
Yuri Sargsyan, Rector of YSEU, reported the main results had in the 2003-2004 academic year. According to Mr. Sargsyan, re-organization work at the University went on successfully in the reported period. Positive performance indicators had been registered in a number of fields. In particular, about 3200 undergraduate, graduate and post-graduate students had entered the University under 5 chief educational programs. 1715 students had graduated from the University in the previous year with most of them doing the job they had been trained for. The 11.000-student-strong University has recovered the level of the early 1970s. The notorious Classrom 1301, which symbolizes the glorious past record of the University, has been given full refurbishment. Over 40 scholars had been awarded Candidate's and Doctor's degrees by YSEU's 6 scientific boards in 2004. 6 problem-targeted laboratories and a new in-house computer network had been set up in the reported period.
