Today the Jubilee Commission for Coordination of Preparations for the 70th Anniversary of Hrant Matevosyan's Birth has held a meeting presided at by Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan.
The commission was briefed on the progress in the implementation of the assignments given at the previous meeting. Based on the proposals made, the program of jubilee events was finalized with the venues and timings of the projected events specfied. In particular, it was decided that a National-House-of-Painters-hosted exhibition of paintings entitled "Flowers to Hrant," as well as the presentation ceremony of the UAW-instituted literary award after Hrant Matevosyan would be held on the famous writer's date of birth - February 12.
A school and a street in Yerevan will be named after the writer in the jubilee year. A monument and a memorial stone to Hrant Matevosyan will be placed in Vanadzor and in Yerevan respectively. Stamps, post-cards will be issued with scholarships available in the teacher-training colleges of Yerevan, Vanadzor and Stepanakert. Bids will be invited for the design of a building for the museum-cultural center after the writer. "Neutral Zone," a play by Hrant Matevosyan, will be staged at the Drama Theater of Yerevan. The famous writer's selected works in two volumes and a collection of his unpublished works will be out in 2005. A program has been drafted for TV and Radio broadcasts dedicated to Hrant Matevosyan
