Today government commission on the design of a complex program for the development Armenology has met at the Office of Government, presided by commission chairman, Republic of Armenia Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan.
The heads of the 3 working groups, formed at the first session of the commission, came up with proposals concerning the development of separate sectors of Armenology and outlined ways for tackling the problems available in this field. In particular, they referred to the coordinating center which streamlined the Amenological activities carried out in Homeland and in the Diaspora, the establishment of a working group to develop a concept note on informational security, re-publishing of major works by the classics of Armenology, the printing of textbooks on separate subjects in accordance with a uniform program, the actions aimed at the preservation of the purity of the Armenian language, the specification of educational criteria for Armenological studies. The commission has similarly looked into the possibility of promoting the formation of new generations of Armenologists, the creation of an online Armenian school etc.
Commission chairman Andranik Margaryan emphasized the importance of developing Armenology as a means for defying modern challenges and opposing to the allegations of those strangers who tried to present the history of Armenia and its cultural values in a distorted light, as well as a tool for ensuring the maintenance and continuity of our national identity. To that effect, it was decided to charge the heads of the working groups to have developed before the deadline of January 20, 2007 a concept note on the development of Armenology, to hold relevant discussions within a week
