Today the jubilee commission for preparation of the 1600th anniversary of the Armenian alphabet has held a meeting presided at by Prime Minister A. Margaryan at the Office of Government.
The commission reviewed the progress in the implementation of the assignments given at the previous meeting. An integral version of the program was reported to have been drafted based on the comments and proposals made prior to the meeting.
In compliance of an assignment, RA Minister of Science and Education Mr. Hovik Hoveyan submitted for commission's approval the scenarios drafted for the theatrical performance entitled "Grotz Yerth", the celebrations of the Translators' Day at Oshakan, the gala concert to be held at the National Opera House after Al. Spendiaryan and other events. Commission members have also examined and approved over 20 other events under the proposed program, including the international symposium on Armenology, the scientific-artistic forum, the nationwide festival of recitation, an e-symposium referred to as "ITs and the Armenian Alphabet," an exhibition of Armenian letters, the publication of "The Life of Mashtots" (in 4 languages), as well as a survey by Hrachia Atcharyan on invention of the alphabet, a collection of poems entitled "A Hymn to the Armenian Language," founding of a park named "Grotz Partez" in the Second Massive of Nork etc.
The NKR government was reported to have already started the preparations for the celebrations of the 1600th anniversary of Armenian alphabet and to have approved the individual composition of the jubilee commission. In accordance with the established program, scientific and cultural events, including a symposium will be held in Artsakh dedicated to the School of Amaras and the 1600th anniversary of the Alphabet. "The Chronicle of 1600-Years-Long Educational Life of Artsakh" will be out in Armenian and Russian languages. Other scientific and cultural events, too, will organized in the framework of jubilee observations.
Mr. Stepan Margaryan, Adviser to the Prime Minister, presented the program of events for Javakhk, which includes the Week of the Armenian Alphabet to be marked in the Armenian schools of Georgia, an exhibition of paintings by Armenian painters living in Georgia, a gala concert in Akhalkalaki dedicated to the jubilee, publication of a collection of studies on the history of schools in Javakhk etc.
The meeting has approved the logo of the jubilee.
Along with the list of the proposed events, the meeting has also discussed issues bearing on their funding. Appropriate assignments were given regarding individual events.
