Today RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan has convened a meeting of the organizing committee for the coordination of preparations for pan-Armenian events. Discussed was the progress in the discharge of the tasks set at the previous meeting and in the implementation of the activities envisaged under the 2005 program of pan-Armenian events. The program features over a dozen of events in the fields of health care, youth affairs, education, science, culture, sports etc.

The meeting decided that the events dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide would be given a nationwide character, too. It was reported that in compliance with the assignments made at the previous meeting, all the concerned entities and organizations had already come up with relevant action plans supported with corresponding timetables and financial estimates. In prioritizing the maintenance of a permanent feedback with the participants of pan-Armenian events, the RA Foreign Ministry had made serious efforts towards mobilising diasporan Armenians round the Armenian diplomatic missions and bringing together their efforts for the achievement of our national goals.

In compliance with another assignment, with a view to discussing the actions envisaged under the 2005 program of pan-Armenian events, a meeting of the Youth Affairs Council under RA Prime Minister had been held at the Office of Government, which was attended by representatives from the All-Armenian Youth Foundation and All-Armenian International Youth Center Fund.

It was also noted that the preparations for a number of events had already started. In particular, the program of events in commemoration of the 1600th anniversary of the Mesropian alphabet had been drawn in outline during the meeting of the Prime Minister-headed government commission and it was being finalized at this point of time. The latest meeting of the Cabinet had passed decisions on the holding of a meeting of the Worldwide Congress of Pan-Armenian Games and separate championships for male and female basket-ball teams. The Cabinet meeting had also approved the composition of the organizing committee for the basket-ball tournaments.

Then, the organizing committee discussed the timetable of those pan-Armenian events to be held in Armenia in 2005. According to this time schedule, the Second Pan-Armenian Olympiad on Armenian Philology and Letters, History and Culture, "Baze" youth and student festival, the 3rd Pan-Armenian Youth Conference, "Reed-Pipe" music festival, the forum of the Armenian Jewellers Association, the 5th congress of the Armenian dentists and other events were due in the period between June and October, 2005.
