RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyans Message on Armenian Genocide Victims Commemoration Day
Dear Compatriots,
Today as all Armenians in both Motherland and the Diaspora are commemorating the victims of the Armenian Genocide, we bend heads before the memory of our innocent compatriots who fell a prey to the Genocide. This unprecedented crime perpetrated by the Ottoman Turkey failed to be prevented, escaped recognition and condemnation, enabling thus the recurrence of similar crimes in future.
As genocide is a crime targeting the whole mankind, today the condemnation of the Armenian Genocide is well above being a concern and objective for only the Armenians.
We would like to sincerely thank those States, organizations and individuals who stood by us in our fight for the reinstatement of the historical truth, prevention and condemnation of crimes aimed against mankind.
Our struggle is maintained for the sake of humanity and for the memory of all genocide victims. We strive to rule out the recurrence of crimes like this in future.
Today we also commemorate the memory of "Agos" daily's chief editor Hrant Dink and express our willingness to support those Turkish scholars and individuals fighting for the acknowledgement of the historical truth.
Dear compatriots, Genocide recognition is now high on our foreign political agenda. While remembering its past history, Armenia looks ahead in an effort to establish normal relationship with all its neighbors. Armenia is moving forwards with a firm resolve to build a civilized, developed and democratic State.
