RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan's Congratulatory Message on Victory and Peace Day
Dear Compatriots,
I warmly congratulate you all on Victory and Peace Day of May 9.
War victories are the most remarkable chapters of any nation's history. Victories inspire emerging generations to new heroic deeds. The history of our people is full of similar chapters of glorious victories and heroic deeds.
The victory gained in World War Two was likewise contributed by the self-sacrifice and fighting spirit of our people's devoted sons. Having joined the Soviet Army and the Allied Troops, involved in the resistance movement and partisan warfare, the brave sons of Armenia provided exceptional examples of heroism and patriotism. I congratulate our Great Patriotic War veterans and wish them robust health and a long life.
The Victory Day is twice as much significant to us as we celebrate both the victory won over fascism and the 15th anniversary of liberation of Shushi. Armenia's modern history of glorious feats of arms was written in the trenches on these very days 15 years ago. We evidenced our readiness of taking up arms to defend our people's right to freedom, independence and peaceful life. Artskh's actual independence is the most important outcome of Shushi liberation.
I am felicitating our people, the freedom-fighters and all the devotees who joined us in the fight for this victory. We bend our heads before the memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the sake of Motherland's freedom.
Reiterating my congratulations on this Victory and Peace Day, I wish you all lasting peace and prosperity.
