Today a meeting of the state commission for preparation of the 90th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide has been held at the Office of Government under the chairmanship of Prime Minister A. Margaryan.
The commission has examined the progress in the preparatory work for the observations of the 90th anniversary of Genocide. Commission members - heads of the agencies responsible for the implementation of the projected events have reported in particular on the preparations to the international symposium on the Armenian Genocide and the protection of human rights to be held at the National Academy of Sciences on April 20-21, 2005, the memorial concert to be held at the National Opera and Ballet Theater after Al. Spendiaryan on April 23, the April 21-24 concert tour of the Hungarian National Radio Choir in commemoration of the 90th anniversary of Genocide, the nocturnal march to Tzitzernakaberd memorial complex, the April 24 visits to be paid to the Genocide Victims Memorial Complex and other monuments built in memory of Genocide victims, as well as on other events planned, including the holding of various symposia, museum exhibitions and shows, publication of printed and archive materials, release of laser discs and so on.
Those present have prioritized the efforts for ensuring a comprehensive media coverage of all the events and raising international public awareness of the 90th anniversary of the Genocide. A report thereon was made by Mr. Aram Simonyan, head of the interagency coordination task force.
Also, the meeting has discussed the commemorations due to be held throughout the year.
