RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan's Congratulatory Message on Republic's Day
Dear compatriots,
I congratulate you all on the Day of the First Republic - the 89th anniversary of proclamation of the 1st Armenian Republic. After an interval of many centuries, the reinstatement of the Armenian nationhood on May 28, 1918 was the outcome of those historic victories had at Sardarapat, Bash-Aparan and Gharakilisa, which were due to the freedom-loving spirit, exceptional unity and solidarity of our people, volunteers, clergy, scholars, who fought side by side with the active army. It was possible through the nationwide exploit of all layers of our people. The lessons of these heroic mayday fights, as the pledge of the noble ideas of freedom and independence, handed down from father to son, emerged afresh during the fight waged for the freedom of Artsakh, a glorious chapter of which - the 15th anniversary of liberation of Shushi - was marked solemnly and publicly a few days ago. Born on the laurels of our latest victories and proceeding along the path of harmonious development together with the rest of the civilized world, the Republic Armenia is already 16-years-old. I am confident that, strong with the same unity, we shall continue making efforts for the strengthening of our independent statehood, based on enhanced democratic values, economic development, preservation and strengthening of the previous achievements, maintenance of a well-deserved place and role in worldwide processes.
Congratulating you once again on this nice holiday, I wish you lasting peace, creative work and a firm belief in the future of our State.
