RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan received the delegation led by Chief Minister of Delhi Ms Sheila Dikshit who is in Armenia on official visit, invited by the Mayor of Yerevan.
Welcoming Ms Sheila Dikshit to our country, the Prime Minister expressed satisfaction at the current dynamics of developing Armenian-Indian cooperation as witnessed, according to him, by the recently activated high-evel contacts inclusive of Delhi's Chief Minister's first-ever official visit to Armenia.
Appreciative of the warm reception, Ms Sheila Dikshit said to be impressed by Armenia's post-independence achievements in the economic, political and other spheres. She stressed that India was prepared to assist our country ahead by striking closer ties of cooperation in the agricultural, health care, cultural and other fields. Concerning the educational cooperation, the primary need of developing student exchanges and achieving mutual recognition of academic degrees at the State level were emphasized on either side.
Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan pointed out to the necessity of strengthening bilateral economic ties, boosting trade turnover and investment between our two countries and, in this context, expressed his appreciation of Indian business circles' interest in the re-commissioning of Armenia's idle plants. He further said that in addition to the above-mentioned areas, Armenia was especially interested in the development and furtherance of bilateral collaboration in the IT sector considering that India was famous for its outstanding achievements in this field.
In conclusion, Serzh Sargsyan wished Ms Sheila Dikshit every success in her undertakings towards strengthening the cooperation between our two countries.
