On a working visit in Japan, the Armenian Prime Minister-led government delegation has visited today the site of the international exposition in Aichi to attend the ceremonial opening of the Day of Armenia in the framework of Expo-2005. In his address to the participants of the event, the Prime Minister has stated, in particular:
"Dear Hosts, Participants and Guests,
I greet you warmly on the occasion of the Day of Armenia as marked in the framework of this exposition referred to as "The Wisdom of Nature."
Such representative events as Expo-2005, which has brought together over 200 countries of the world and international organizations, go in perfect harmony with the processes of integration underway in the world. Not only do they provide excellent opportunity for the enhancement of economic, trade and business relationship between States and peoples, but also they create facilities for the establishment of closer direct ties in the cultural, humanitartian and several other fields.
I believe that Expo-2005 will go a long way towards promoting multilateral cooperation in the world. In this respect, I welcome the idea of having a consolidated "Caucasus" stand involving the 3 republics of South Caucasus.
Dear Friends,
In a world of rapidly developing fundamental research and engineering, telecommunications and ITs, any possibility should be used to bring closer States and peoples, to let them have as much information as possible about each other so as to identify possibilities for eventual cooperation. It is important to bear on mind that worldwide integration and unity are feasible only through the preservation of the historical, artistic and cultural identity of each sovereign State, nation and people.
In greeting all of you once again on the occasion of this Day of Armenia held in the framework of Expo-2005, I would like to assure you that from our distant but warm and sunny country we have brought along all the best of our mind, heart and spirit that people of Armenia carried over throughout its centuries-long history.
It is not a mere chance that among the few alternatives offered by the hosts of the exposition, Armenia opted for "Art of Living." Our stand represents the approaches and views adhered to by our State with regard to worldwide processes of integration, as well as our history, culture, economic and intellectual potential with a focus upon the harmonious co-existence of man and Nature.
I wish to avail myself of this opportunity to thank the government of the hospitable Japan on behalf of the Armenian government and myself for the assistance received with the design of Armenia's stand.
I wish every success and fruitful work to all the participants of Expo-2005."
Following the inauguration of Armenia's stand, Prime Minister A. Margaryan was introduced to the exhibits at the Japanese, Caucasian and other stands.
A reception is due in the evening on the part of the organizers Expo-2005 to honor Prime Minister A. Margaryan and the members of the Armenian delegation.
Closer to the end of the day, the Prime Minister-led Armenian delegation will leave for Tokio, where Mr. A. Margaryan will have private talks with Japanese high-ranking officials.
