RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan received the delegation led by Mayor of Nice, Senator Jacques Peira.
Noting with satisfaction that the Armenian-French relations had been developing successfully recently, the Prime Minister emphasized that an important role in this process was played by the friendship and cooperation existing between local authorities of the two countries. He welcomed the establishment of twin-town relationship between Nice and Yerevan and expressed hope that they would promote the development of interaction between these two towns in most various spheres.
Serzh Sargsyan said that the two countries
' and peoples' friendship had been evidenced once again by the celebrations of the Year of Armenia in France. In particular, the Prime Minister mentioned the importance of those 4 tens of sizeable events held in Nice in the framework of the Year.Mayor of Nice Jacques Peira stressed that a primary reason behind his delegation
's visit was the conviction that besides the relations maintained between the heads of State and government, an extremely great value had the interaction established between individual towns and regions that might help get closer idea about each other and cooperate more effectively. He expressed satisfaction at the contacts had during this visit and expressed hope that the cooperation with Yerevan would yield positive results in the near future. In this context, he also noted the importance of the cooperation agreement signed today between the universities of Nice and Yerevan which, as he said, would enable to establish close ties of collaboration between students and youth.During the meeting, Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan thanked the Mayor of Nice for his personal contribution to the adoption of the bill on Armenian Genocide recognition in France.
