Today RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan has received Mr. Roger Robinson, Head of the World Bank Armenia Office. Discussed were the programs for future cooperation, a number of coordination-related issues, as well as the need for bringing together the multitude of sectoral programs as components of an all-comprehensive and integrated program. The Prime Minister expressed hope that the realization of the idea of electronic government, high on the government agenda, would be a great way to the solution of coordination issues by creating favorable conditions for the private sector. By mentioning that coordination affairs would be placed under the responsibility of the Premier's adviser for international cooperation and information technologies, Mr. Margaryan stressed that, in pursuit of a priority-based target definition policy line, his government focused on the accurate assessment of existing capacities and efficiency-oriented task scheduling schemes.
The Head of the Armenia Office of the World Bank said to be prepared, upon receipt of an official request from the government, to discuss with the Bank management the possibility of supporting the program of electronic government. Noting that the idea was welcome to the Bank as it had been implemented successfully in a number of countries, Mr. Robinson expressed confidence that the leadership of the Bank would give a favorable consideration thereof and would back its implementation.
