Today RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan has received Her Excellency Abla Abd Al-Rahman Osman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Armenia.

First of all, the Prime Minister presented his condolences on the loss of numerous human lives at Sharm Al-Sheikh as a result of the July 23 car-bombings by stressing that terrorism should become a cause for common concern and ought to be condemned as an evil targeting the whole humanity with international efforts having to be pooled against it.

With reference to the Armenian-Epyptian relationship, Mr. A. Margaryan said that they could be called as satisfactory as a whole, especially as to the collaboration within international organizations and added that Armenia had more than once voted for the candidates nominated by Egypt for various posts in UN bodies and supported Egypt's membership in the UN Security Council. The head of the Armenian government stated that bilateral trade relations failed to live up to his expectations though some sustained positive trends had been traced in this area recently.

The Egyptian Ambassador expressed the hope that the Prime Minister's upcoming visit to his country later this year would give a strong impetus to the cooperation in the economic field. The more so that it was due to be followed by the 4th meeting of the intergovernmental commission, an Armenian-Egyptian business forum and political consultations between the respective foreign ministries.

During the meeting, the Parties similarly touched upon the CIS Countries Technical Cooperation Fund-sponsored program developed by the Egyptian Ministry of Foregn Affairs for the training of Armenian specialists, as well as reviewed the on-going joint activities and possible cooperation programs in the fields of public health care, culture, education, agriculture and so on.
