RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan welcomed newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Ali Saghayian
First, the Prime Minister complimented Seyed Ali Saghayian on the start-up of his diplomatic mission in our country and expressed hope that the relations between Armenia and Iran will continue developing with as much success during his tenure of office. Serzh Sargsyan stressed that Iran has always been and will remain an important country to Armenia as the record of bilateral cooperation goes far back into history and is characterized by a wealth of traditions which obliges the two sides to keep on implementing the ongoing programs and come up with new mutually beneficial proposals.
Seyed Ali Saghayian conveyed to Serzh Sargsyan warm greetings on behalf of IRI First Vice-President Davoodi. He noted that he had had several occasions of visiting Armenia before assuming the office of ambassador and was sufficiently informed on the developments in our country. The Ambassador took the opportunity to assure the Prime Minister of his willingness to spare no efforts for the furtherance of relationship between the two countries.
The interlocutors expressed appreciation of the upward dynamics of interaction in the fields of energy and transport and mentioned that there were good prospects for developing the cooperation in scientific, IT, educational, cultural and other spheres. It was stated on either side that trade turnover between the two countries still fell short of the current level of political dialog and did not reflect the whole strength of the existing potential. They emphasized the need for making additional efforts in this direction.
In conclusion, on behalf of the government of Armenia, Serzh Sargsyan expressed readiness to back Seyed Ali Saghayian
's endeavors aimed at developing multifaceted relationship between Armenia and Iran.
