President of the French Republic Nicolas Sarkozy has sent a congratulatory message to RA Prime Minister Serzh Sargsyan on his victory in the presidential elections of 2008, which reads as follows, in particular:
"Dear Mr. Prime Minister,
I am congratulating you warmly and sincerely on your victory in the presidential elections. The overwhelming success had as early as in the first round of elections testifies to the great public support you enjoy inside the country. I welcome this choice of the Armenian people who voted for the political reforms implemented by your government and Armenia
's drive for European integration.Please be sure to henceforth rely upon the consecutive backing of France in all matters related to the strengthening of stability and peace in the South Caucasian region. In its capacity of co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group, France will keep on making efforts aimed at finding a durable and mutually acceptable resolution for the complex issue of Karabakh.
I would like to take this opportunity to assure you that I am personally attaching a great importance to the development and deepening of the ongoing multifaceted cooperation with your country.
