Today RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan has received Ukraine's newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Alexander Bojko.
Congratulating the Ambassador on his second term of office in our country, the Prime Minister expressed hope that the Ambassador would continue assisting the development of the Armenian-Ukrainian relationship. During the meeting, Mr. Bojko briefed the Prime Minister on the latest developments in Ukraine's political and economic life by stressing that at this point of time the situation was stable, a new cabinet had been formed under the management of an experienced prime minister, and the international relations were in process of settlement.
Prioritizing the establishment of closer political and diplomatic ties between the two countries on their way to European integration, including the cooperation in the framework of international organizations, the the interlocutors have placed a special focus upon the current status and development prospects of the Armenian-Ukrainian economic cooperation. Having noted that the present level of trade turnover fell short of the economic capacity available in the two countries, both sides expressed hope that the arrangements made at the previous meetings of the Armenian-Ukrainian intergovernmental commission on economic affairs, especially those reached at the third one held in Kiev in May, 2004, as well as the documents signed would add a momentum to the intensification of the mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation in the economic field. Mr. Margaryan and Mr. Bojko agreed that the preparations to the the fourth meeting of the commission would have to be expedited following the appointment of the new co-chairman on the Ukrainian side in order to address the existing problems more efficiently.
In conclusion, the Prime Minister wished the newly appointed Ambassador successful completion of his difficult and responsible mission in our country.
