RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan's Address to the Participants of the October 24 Armenian-Japanese Business Round Table in Yerevan
Honorable Ambassador Nomura,
Dear Guests:
Allow me to welcome you on the opening of the Armenian-Japanese Round Table.
It is a distinct pleasure for me to see such a numerous delegation of Japanese businessmen featuring the leading Japanese companies.
This forum is the evidence of the reciprocal interest to boost the bilateral economic and commercial ties. This event is also the reflection of my June visit paid to Japan with the purpose of attending EXPO-2005 world exposition in Aichi during which a number of important arrangements were reached with the Japanese side.
I am convinced that this gathering of our two countries'entrepreneurs will help set up new prospective business ties, attract direct investment from Japan and expand trade relations, with the latter standing high on the economic agenda of the Armenian government.
In prioritizing the development of bilateral relationship and, especially, the economic ties with Japan, which is among the leaders of the Asian-Pacific region, the government of Armenia is prepared to henceforth support the holding of events like this as they are in the best political and economic interests of our two countries and in full conformity with the ideas placed at the heart of the new initiative referred to as "South Caucasus-Japan."
I wish fruitful work to the participants of this forum and expresse the hope that business intercourse will be continued so as they positive impact could be felt in the near future.
