RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Armenia Shohrat Dzhumayev.
In congratulating the Ambassador on the start-up of his diplomatic mission in our country, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that, based on the positive record of bilateral cooperation in different areas and in the energy sector, in particular, which was made possible in the period following independence, he would succeed in fostering the development of the Armenian-Turkmen relationship during his upcoming activity. By pointing out the high level of the Armenian-Turkmen political interaction, the parties have stressed the need for stimulating economic cooperation as there are favorable conditions available in both countries. Among the key fields of mutually advantageous cooperation, the interlocutors have mentioned the energy sector, public health care, construction, tourism. With a view to boosting economic exchanges, the need for speeding up the process of establishing an Armenian-Turkmen intergovernmental commission has been underscored on either side. Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan advised that a head for the Armenian side of the commission will be named within the next few days. The two sides expressed confidence that the establishment of the intergovernmental commission would be conducive to the development of the Armenian-Turkmen economic ties and relations to promote the discussion and implementation of such programs as may be of mutual interest in various spheres.
