RA Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received Chairman of Board of Gazprom OJSC Alexey Miller.
The parties first expressed satisfaction at the current level of bilateral cooperation in the gas sector and stressed that the arrangements made for the past few years have been brought into life successfully leading to a sharp rise in the number of gas users in Armenia. The moment
's task is to continue deepening the interaction in this sphere in accordance with today's realities. Considering that gas pricing processes are due to be liberalized in Russia within the next 3 years based on the European pricing standards, Tigran Sargsyan and Alexey Miller exchanged views and comments on the pricing formulas applicable to Armenia as of January 1, 2009.Among the key principles, the Prime Minister mentioned the need for ensuring that Armenia
's economy remains competitive, the predictability of gas prices, as well as the creation of conditions necessary for a smooth transition to new prices.The interlocutors have agreed that the talks on gas prices should be concluded as shortly as possible considering among other pricing-related factors that Gazprom owns a majority stake in Hayrusgazard. The parties have further expressed confidence that in the near future a final decision would be reached on the given question.
During the meeting, the RA Prime Minister and the Chairman of Board of Gazprom discussed the possibility of making joint efforts towards the issuance of primary stocks on the part of Hayrusgazard, as well as questions relating to bilateral and regional cooperation in the energy sector.
