Today RA Prime Minister A. Margaryan has received Mr. Jan Petersen, Norwegian Minister for Foreign Affairs, who is Armenia in his capacity of EC Ministerial Committee Chairman.
Discussed were a broad range of issues relating to both Armenian-Norwegian bilateral relations and multilateral ones, including Armenia's relationship with the Council of Europe, EC policy in the Southern Caucasus, collaboration in the framework of latest EU initiatives and some matters of regional concern.
By mentioning the recent activation in the relationship between Armenia and Norwege, the Prime Minister expressed Armenia's keen interest in further strengthening and developing the existing ties. The establishment of an appropriate legal framework and Armenia's membership to the WTO, according to Mr. A. Margaryan, would be beneficial as to the furthering of bilateral economic ties considering that on either side still numerous propitious opportunities and potentialities were going unavailed. In this respect, the head of the Armenian government said he saw very good prospects in the development of ITs and eventual cooperation in the fields of agriculture and energy generation. Mr. A. Margaryan emphasized the importance of future cooperation in hydropower generation projects in terms of addressing Armenia's current energy-related problems.
