Today the Council on Yout Affairs under RA Prime Minister has held a Prime Minister Andranik Margaryan-chaired meeting at the Office of Government. Before proceeding to agenda items, the Prime Minister introduced to Council members newly appointed Deputy Minister of Culture and Youth Affairs Arthur Pogosyan and thanked Council member, outgoing Deputy Minister Lilit Asatryan for the work done during tenure of office.
Then Mr. Arthur Pogosyan briefed the Council on the youth policy programs and events realized in the course of 2005, as well as the priorities set for the year 2006. He also reported on the work done towards the discharge of the tasks set at the previous meeting.
According to Mr. Pogosyan, the youth programs and individual events organized and carried out in 2005 were directed towards the realization of the goals set out in the State youth policy concept, namely the promotion of young people's social standing, better use of their creative potential for the sake of the society, provision to this end of social and economic, legal, political, spiritual - cultural and organizational conditions and guarantees.
Special focus was placed upon the quality of youth programs, the field study of juvenile problems, the formulation of ways to their solutionand the design of new target programs with involvement of local youth. To this end, youth center projects were developed in 2004 for implementation in 2005-2006 in 10 regions of the republic which will be functioning on the basis of cooperation between the State, the general public and international organizations.
